Ingredients
- For the syrup
- 2 1/2 - 3 cups water
- 1 - 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp fine cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- For the batter
- 1/2 cup apricot jam
- 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Start with the syrup, mix the ingredients for the syrup and bring to a boil.
- Now start with the batter. Mix the apricot jam, bicarbonate of soda and butter in a thick base pot till the butter has melted.
- Add the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Add spoonfulls of batter to the boiling syrup. The bicarbonate of soda will cause a effervescent effect.
- Put a lid on and boil for not more than 10 minutes.
- Serve with custard
