Ingredients

  • For the White Sauce:
  • 25g of butter/margarine
  • 25g of plain flour
  • 150ml of milk
  • Seasoning (salt, pepper)
  • The bolognese mixture:
  • 1/2 a clove of garlic
  • 50g of mushrooms
  • 1/2 a pepper
  • 1/2 of a tin of chopped tomatoes (110g)
  • 1 teaspoon of tomato puree
  • 110g of lasagne sheets
  • 250g of steak mince
  • beef stock
  • Equiptment:
  • 2 saucepans (if available)
  • Hand Whisk
  • Measuring jug
  • Spoon
  • Knife
  • Coliander
  • Foil container

Instructions

  • First chop the onion and finely chop the garlic. add the onions to a pan (on a low heat), and then add the garlic. then add the mince into the pan, and stir continuously until the mince is brown. if you wish, you can drain any excess wayer/ fat for a healthier option. now you can add any seasoning you like (salt/ pepper etc.). This step should take approximately 10 minutes.
  • Chop the mushrooms into fairly large pieces (1/4's), whilst you add the chopped tomatoes and a small amount of tomato puree. make sure they are consistently spread i.e. the vegetables are evenly spaced out throughout the mince. now you can add the beef stock and leave the mixture on simmering heat. this step should take approximately 10 minutes.
  • To make the white sauce (with no cheese): put the butter/margarine, the flour and the milk into a saucepan and stir with a hand whisk on a low heat. Bring the sauce slowly to the boil, whilst you are still stirring to ensure the sauce does not stick. the sauce should be think and smooth (whisk any lumps out). Remove from the heat immediately after the sauce is the right consistency, and add any seasoning. This step should take approximately 10 minutes.
  • Arrange the lasagne. first put the meat/vegetable mix into the container, then put the lasagne sheet on top of that, and then the white sauce. add as many more layers as you like. If you want the lasagne to keep it's form when it is cut, more lasagne sheets may be necessary. Remember to sprinkle grated cheese on top of the top lasagne sheet. This step should take approximately 10 minutes.
  • Heat the oven to 180c and put your lasagne in for 30-40 minutes. if a knife can easily slip through the lasagne it is ready. This step should take 35- 45 minutes depending on the length of time your lasagne needs to be cooked for.
