Hearty Beef Stew

Ingredients
- 600g braising steak trimmed and cubed
- 2tbsp flour
- 1sp mustard powder
- 5 carrots thickly sliced
- 4 parsnips thickly sliced
- 1 medium swede peeled and roughly cubed
- 3 leeks roughly chopped
- 800g peeled and halved potatoes
- 100g peas
- 3 sticks celery sliced
- 1 400g can chopped tomatoes
- strong beef stock to cover
- bread to serve
- worcestershire sauce to serve (optional)
Instructions
- Put flour and mustard powder into a food bag or bowl and mix
- Add the beef to the flour mix and toss untill the beef is coated well
- Place the vegetables into a large pot not including the peas or tomatoes
- Add the beef and the tomatoes and juice
- Fill the pot with the stock until it comes level with the top of the ingredents already added
- Turn the hob onto the lowest setting and place the pot on it
- Gently cook for 7 hours stirring it once or twice to prevent it sticking
- Serve in a bowl with bread and worcestershire sauce on the side
