Doon's Brown Bread
This hearty wholemeal soda bread recipe is a quick and simple way to enjoy freshly baked bread. Made with wholemeal flour, buttermilk, and a touch of salt, this bread is deliciously crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs wholemeal flour
- 2 heaped teaspoons of bread/bicarbonate of soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 pint buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200C/fan 190C.
- Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
- Divide the mixture between 2 loaf tins and level the tops.
- Place in the oven for 50 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove from the tins immediately and wrap in a clean tea towel to prevent the crust getting too hard.
