Ingredients

  • 375g plain flour
  • 115g caster sugar
  • 260g butter
  • 500g dark chocolate

Instructions

  • Preheat the over to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Grease a 1 1/2 inch-deep baking tray.
  • Sieve the flour and the sugar into a large mixing bowl, and then cream in the softened butter. Press the dough into the baking tray, being sure to spread it as evenly as possible. Prick the surface of the shortbread with a fork and put it in the oven for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the shortbread and let it cool. Break the chocolate into small pieces and melt, using either a saucepan, a microwave or a bain-marie. Once melted, pour the chocolate over the shortbread and spread it evenly with the back of a wooden spoon. Leave to cool.
  • Once the chocolate has hardened, use a knife or a pizza cutter to divide the chocolate shortbread into small pieces.
