Ingredients
- 425ml/15fl oz milk
- 20g/¾oz plain flour
- 40g/1½oz butter
- salt and freshly milled black pepper
Instructions
- Place a saucepan over medium heat. Add the milk, butter and the flour.
- Whisk vigorously and constantly using a metal whisk until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth and creamy. This will take about 3 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and cook for a further 2 minutes, whisking continuously.
- Season with salt and pepper.
